Brass Thimble

An antique brass thimble, with floral design. This fits nicely around the base of one of my antique bottles, so it may become the base of a seed-keeper. Very likely a flower seed-keeper.

Thimbles are ancient things - they've been found in Chinese tombs from 200 AD. Elizabeth 1 used a thimble. People who collect thimbles are known as digitabulists!

I am still searching for a narrative. One thimble story I remember from my childhood is Peter Pan. He thinks the thimbles given to him are kisses. An obvious floral link is the Gilia seed. Gilia Capitata is the flower called Queen Anne's Thimble. But I love the idea of combining this narrative with something to do with sewing (joining, connecting)...or perhaps the idea of protection.
